Mary was born & bred in Easington Colliery.  She was educated at Easington Colliery Infant and Junior Schools, then Seaham Harbour Grammar School.  A retired nurse, she writes stories and poems of pit life, many of which have been published.  Mary is a founder member of Easington Writers.
