I suppose I have been writing poetry for as long as can remember and I hope to continue as long as am able to pick up a pen or read a computer keyboard. I like to write about what I know, memories of growing up in a North East mining community, my life long love affair with the game of football and in particular Newcastle United. You can find a fair selection of my poems on the 'Football poets' website. I work as a stadium tour guide at St James' Park so perhaps I have met a few of you before. In my job I meet people from all over the world including many exiled Geordies who love coming 'back home'. My DVD 'Verses United' which was endorsed by NUFC was a outstanding success and which I am very proud of.
My work has been featured on various media outlets including Sky Sports and the BBCs 'Football Focus'. I have also worked with the regions school children doing poetry workshops at St James' Park. I have done many live performance readings over the years. I like to keep my poetry simple really and often attempt to inject a bit of Geordie humour into my work. I was born and bred in Gateshead but have lived for the last 38 years in Jarrow (the posh end). I have two grown up sons and the light of my life Isobel my darling 2 year old granddaughter.
